The Power of Little Wins for Major Sales Success

When you sit down and look at your task-list, do you feel overwhelmed? Or, maybe wonder how in the world you’re ever going to accomplish your sales goals, when they are MASSIVE?

It’s time to start focusing on those small wins.

By focusing on those small wins, you start creating the momentum that is needed to propel you through the each step to success. Plus, it always feels so good to celebrate a win, no matter how small or big!

Okay, so let’s look at it this way, say you have a goal of hitting $1 million in revenue, this year.

That’s a pretty daunting task when you look at it from a bird’s eye view, but when you step that back, and break it into manageable chunks, it’s not so scary. Plus you feel the glorified feeling of success, which makes you want to push further and harder if hitting $1 million in revenue is your version of success in your business.

And, one other note, if you start taking the steps towards success and end up failing to meet a goal, but you worked darn hard on the task, you should still celebrate that! You worked hard and likely accomplished other feats! So celebrate it, because you deserve it!

Over the last year, I’ve experienced this as well, with my last business FITzee Foods, that I had to close back in March of 2017.

If I look at the little wins that I’ve had over the last year, it’s been pretty incredible. Such as booking Kevin Harrington as a guest on Success Unfiltered! To my first paying student in my online course! If we could all just take one step back and review our wins, maybe even doing it weekly, your end goal won’t seem so big and scary.

With those little wins you build confidence as Mel Robbins always says!

If a major deal falls through, you won’t necessarily drop into a depression, because you’ll see that you’ve actually accomplished so much more from acknowledging your wins.

Celebrating those micro-wins, will also help you not give up, and will assist in giving the clarity to keep your sales goals organized and on track.

When Enough is Enough

Kara Goldin, a guest on Success Unfiltered, experienced some major struggles when she decided to create her beverage company, hint.

She was able to get the flavored waters into a local Whole Foods, but anytime she approached a major grocery store, she was told NO. One buyer was even kind enough to explain to her that they just didn’t know where to put her on the shelves. Her waters were clearly not soda and they aren’t flavored with any sweetners, so they don’t fit with the enhanced waters or the vitamin waters.

It was frustrating!

However, Kara was dedicated and kept networking and asking questions, until things made sense to her.

After many attempts at the larger grocery chains and hearing NO after NO, Kara decided it was time to start focusing on the smaller wins.

Sure those large wins would be amazing and set her company up for almost immediate success, but those big wins weren’t coming and Kara and her team were starting to feel defeated.

So, even though Kara had to start building up those small wins, it felt good to experience a win. It helped build the momentum she and her team needed to carry them to the ultimate end goal.

Asking for Help Can Guide You to Bigger Wins

There are going to be times while on your sales and entrepreneurial journey that you will start to feel burnt out, and may need to shelve something temporarily. Maybe a particular task is bumming you out, and you haven’t built up enough little wins to look back on. That’s okay!

Shelve the task, and ask for help!

If you’re struggling with a particular task, Kara recommends looking to your team, or your network.

Kara says, “So often we don’t ask for help. We figure this is our job and we have to do it. It’s what we do every single day, but, instead, if you actually ask people for help the whole experience could be easier,” and you may even get to the YES faster.

At one of her daughter’s softball games, Kara was going through a tough period of time. Another mom sat down, and they started chatting. Kara asked her what she did for a living, and quickly found out that she worked for Frito Lay which is owned by Pepsi.

How crazy is that!? Kara was struggling to get into stores because of products giants like Pepsi, and she is sitting right next to a women that could help her.

They started chatting and Kara asked her a question she’d been going over and over in her head for some time. Which was, “Why was it so hard to get into conventional grocers?”

The woman went on to explain that she had just delivered a check to a grocery store a few weeks ago for $16 million. The check was to hold the shelf-space that Pepsi holds at the grocery store.

This wonderful woman explained the economics of business to Kara, and taught her something she never knew about the world of shelf space in a conventional grocer.

Ms. Frito Lay advised Kara that each store has about 10% wiggle room, so what Kara needed to do was stop trying to create a new category and instead help the stores realize that her product fit somewhere between plain water and enhanced water.

She helped Kara strategize exactly what was going to happen, without knowing she was even telling her.

To this woman, it was nothing, just a friendly conversation about business, but to Kara this was a pretty big win. At a time when she was struggling, she was just friendly and ended up getting some incredible advice that helped propel her products into conventional grocery stores!

And, it worked! I don’t know about your store, but when I go to my grocery store, I always see hint, right on the shelves with the plain water and the enhanced water!

In Conclusion

Here’s my challenge for you: Over the next week, pay attention to all of the GOOD and POSITIVE things that occur, and then celebrate them! Write them down so you can reflect on them in the future

Take the time to consciously celebrate every single little win. I’m going to bet, that by the end, you’ll have celebrated at least 5 times that week.

I’d love for you to share each of your little wins in the comments!
